Vayres Towns and Villages in Vayres

Useful information

Province : Entre Deux-Mers

  • English
    • Commune of the Entre-deux-Mers, Vayres is known for the Tidal bore. The latter is a natural phenomenon of raising the water which produces a rising tide causing waves. It's waves allow you to surf…more than ten minutes…on a river! This phenomenon attracts many curious people every year (during full and new moons as well as from August to October). The Town Hall website allows you to have the passage times of the Mascaret.

We also advise you to visit the Château de Vayres (modified during the Renaissance), from Easter to All Saints' Day, every day. Animations, games, guided tours, costumed nights... the castle takes you on a journey through time!

Don't forget the Port of Saint Pardon which offers you a panoramic view of the river, it's ideal for observing the Tidal Bore! Several hikes are possible around the village.
