Take your bike, let's go: greenways and routes for cycling in Gironde

Take your bike, let's ...

To hold on to your handlebars, there is no season. These could be the words of a new proverb, extolling the merits of cycling in winter. Because yes, it's gray, it rains sometimes and you don't really want to ride a bike? It's a shame because it's a cardio activity that's good for your health and Gironde is one of the departments in France best equipped with itineraries (600km of slopes and 300km on its own site, i.e. without cars). Discover the coast, the vineyards or the castles by bike, with family, as a couple or even alone, it's an excellent way to do sustainable tourism, while taking care of your health!

The Vélodyssey in Gironde

The Vélodyssée is the French section of the Eurovéloroute, which aims to cross all of Europe on two wheels. In France, it's a dream road trip for all traveling cyclists. 1200km of developed and almost car-free cycle route, from Pointe Bretonne to the Basque end. Follow the coast with delight and in Gironde, take it from Soulac-sur-Mer to the Dune du Pilat, over 170km.

To organize your trip, it is best to consult the site dedicated to this cycle route , which is full of tourist information and advice on how to properly prepare your trips. Analyze the sections that interest you to define a number of daily kilometers according to the difficulty of the route and the places of tourist interest to make a stop.

The Gironde Tour by Bike

It is a route, which, as its name suggests, offers you a loop circuit all around the department passing through its most significant points of tourist interest. In 486 km, you cover a very large part of the territory. Everything is thought of for you : the route, the stops and the beautiful things to see. Download the map to start planning your future trip.

The route has been carefully chosen to allow you to do 90% of the route on its own site (without a car) and the elevation differences are reasonable to make it a completely family activity. Please note that bike rental companies are located all along the route, so you can do it in several times, starting with different sections.
