    • The history of the museum:

The Bordeaux Historia Vini association was created in November 2007 with the aim of promoting the heritage and the very special past of the Chartrons district by working on the project of a museum dedicated to wine and its trade. Combining tradition and future, the museum aims to be a place of meeting and conviviality around wine news thanks to its strong links with Bordeaux winegrowers.

“Passionate about my city and its wines, I wanted to tell the story of a trade that has shaped Bordeaux for centuries and to combine a mythical place with a moment of relaxation and cultural enrichment. »

Grégory Pecastaing, Founding President of the Museum.

      The place :

Les Chartrons, emblematic district of Port de la Lune, now houses the Wine and Trading Museum. In the building of the royal broker of Louis XV, discover three centuries of history and fame of the great wines of Bordeaux. The imposing facade, the vaulted cellars and the cooperage retrace the daily life of the stockbreeding merchants of the 19th century.

The museum shop occupies the old cooperage and the permanent collection now replaces the barrels in the semi-underground cellars. This collection, made up of documents, rare bottles, films and winemaking equipment, brings several centuries of history to life.

A great hidden gem, yes it's not the biggest museum you'll ever ever visit. But the interact audio is great and really informative. We learnt lots about the local area and wine making. The 10 euro fee also includes the tasting of two wines and 2 extra sweet treats, which makes it great value for money. Chloe was ace!

We loved our tour of the museum. We actually preferred it to the big modern one. Some amazing history and the wine tasting at the end was excellent. We learnt a lot. Highly recommend ❤️👍

Kind staff, good explanations about the wine regions and the museum is small but the experience is nice. A lot of mold as it is a cellar though (consider it if you're allergic)
