Fairs and Events in Gironde

A festival of animations

Bordeaux and the Gironde are very lively and bring together many cultural, festive, gourmet and sporting events, fairs and exhibitions, not to mention my many exhibitions in museums, galleries or cultural centers. Many events punctuate the year. Here is a small anthology (non-exhaustive list).

• Andernos-Les-Bains, oyster festival, second half of July.
• Arcachon, the writers' beach, end of April-beginning of May; the Tchanquetas and the 18 hours of sailing in Arcachon, end of June/beginning of July; sea festivals, around August 15.
• Bazas, Bazas beef festival, in February; the book festival goes to the cinema, in June.
• Bègles, cod festival, end of May/beginning of June.
• Blaye, spring of wines, in April; International jumping around July 14; Theater festival, last week of August.
• Bordeaux, the book stopover, in April; Bordeaux International Fair, in May; Bordeaux celebrates wine, end of June every two years, alternating in even years, odd years with Bordeaux celebrates the river ; the Epicuriales, the second half of June; Vinexpo every two years alternating with Vinitech, mid-June;
• Bourg-en-Gironde, 100 castles open their doors to you, 2nd weekend of May.
• Cadillac, Open House in Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, Pentecost weekend.
• Castillon-la-Bataille, lamprey festival, end of April in the commune of Sainte-Terre; Sound and light show the battle of Castillon, mid-July, mid-August, at 10:30 p.m.

• Cenon, Palmer's rock, in May/June
• Gujan Mestras, Larrostrea, 2nd weekend of July.
• Langon, International Festival of World Dances and Rhythms, July 14; Festival of Atypical Nights, end of July; Wine and Cheese Festival, first weekend of September.
• Léognan, Jazz and blues festival in June.
• Libourne, Musikapile Festival, in June; Fest'Arts at the beginning of August.
• Pauillac, lamb festival, Pentecost Sunday.
• Pessac, Reggae, sun ska festival, early August.
• Saint André-de-Cubzac, open days of the Cubzaguais castles, 3rd weekend of May.
• Saint Emilion, open days in the châteaux, the weekend of May 1st; La Jurade, 3rd Sunday in June (or Saturday at the same time as Vinexpo) judging of new wine and the 3rd Sunday in September, grape harvest ban; Saint-Emilion jazz festival, mid-July.
• Saint-Macaire, Medieval itineraries in the Dropt valley, penultimate weekend of August.
• Soulac, Soulac 1900, the first weekend of June.
• Villandraut, at the castle, Feast of Fools, every July 14; Uzeste Music Festival , around August 15.
