Bordeaux-Gironde makes its cinema

Bordeaux and the Gironde are also popular places for directors who find there material for natural settings, or beautiful residences, to shoot numerous films, TV films and series episodes.

Movies released in theaters

• At the end of June 2016, Camping 3 was released, directed by Fabien Onteniente and starring Franck Dubosc. The film was shot at the Flots Bleus campsite, in Pyla, on the Lagune beach, in Arcachon and at Cap Ferret.
• The Corniaud by Gérard Oury in 1964 with Bourvil and Louis de Funès.
• A Cop by Jean-Pierre Melville in 1972 with Alain Delon and Catherine Deneuve.
• Heads or Tails by Robert Enrico in 1980 with Philippe Noiret, Michel Serrault and Pierre Arditi.
• In 1982, Les Miserables by Robert Hossein with Lino Ventura, Michel Bouquet, Jean Carmet.

• The philosophers and writers, Michel Eyquem de Montaigne, born in Bordeaux in 1533, died in Dordogne in 1592 and Charles de Montesquieu, born in 1869 in La Brède, died in Paris in 1755.
• Politicians, Jacques Chaban-Delmas (1915-2000), deputy mayor of Bordeaux (1947-1995) and Alain Juppé, mayor of Bordeaux since 1995, re-elected in 2001, resigned his mandate in 2006, re-elected in 2006, 2008, 2014, Prime Minister from 1995 to 1997.
• Jacques-Yves Cousteau, oceanographic explorer, the famous commander with the red cap was born in Saint André de Cubzac in 1910 and died in 1997 in Paris.
• Jean-Jacques Sempé, cartoonist, the father of Little Nicolas was born in Bordeaux in 1932.
• The directors, Max Linder, born in Saint-Loubès in 1883 and died in 1925 in Paris; René Clément, born in Bordeaux in 1913 and died in Paris in 1996; Edouard Molinaro, born in 1928 in Bordeaux and died in 2013 in Paris.
• The actor Jacques Dufilho, born in Bègles in 1914, died in 2005 in Gers and the actresses Danielle Darrieux, born in 1917 in Bordeaux, and Barbara Schulz born in 1972 in Talence.
• Journalists and TV presenters, Sophie Davant born in Bordeaux in 1963; William Leymergie, born in Libourne in 1947, Christophe Dugarry, international footballer born in 1972 in Lormont, consultant for TV channels and sports commentator.
• They were born in Bordeaux: the singer Marcel Amont in 1929, the comedian Pierre Palmade in 1968, the singer Serge Lama in 1943, the presenter Julien Courbet in 1965.
