Discover the beaches of Lacanau

There are 7 beaches in Lacanau , there are 5 beaches on the ocean and 2 beaches on Lake Lacanau (see below). The ocean beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, it is the ideal place for swimming with the family. Be careful of the waves, follow the instructions of the rescuers carefully to avoid baïnes (sea currents). The beaches of Lacanau are made of fine sand, perfect for sandcastles, playing rackets and ball, just wandering around with your eyes in the water...

Surfing on the ocean waves

Lacanau is a perfect destination to start surfing. There are schools with equipment rental and beautiful waves suitable for all levels. La Grande plage, which is the main beach, is easy to access. The waves are gentle, this is where the surf schools have everyone testing their first waves. Lion Beach is reserved for more experienced surfers because the waves are more powerful. The same goes for the north beach which regularly hosts surfing competitions.

Cycling in Lacanau during your vacation

In Lacanau, as in all the seaside resorts of Gironde, the best means of transport during the holidays is by bike ! Everything is organized to make 2 wheels a means of transport. From your accommodation to the beach, to the shops via the lake, the cycle paths are numerous and safe.

Lake Lacanau offers fresh water, appreciated by young children. It's the perfect place for an afternoon in the shade of the trees. We put down our towel and appreciate the sweetness of life on this large freshwater lake. The beaches are more peaceful than the ocean, there are several places to swim, the two main ones are Grande Escourre beach and Moutchic Beach. Near the Port of Lacanau there are also places suitable for swimming. You can do sports and nautical activities there such as sailing, canoeing, pedal boating or paddle boarding. You can also rent a boat!

Walking around the city and the Port of Lacanau

Shops, small services and a beautiful market hall, the town of Lacanau offers a small but friendly town. Saturday morning is the market under the hall ! You will find everything you need for your vacation and even more.

Take a walk in Lacanau Océan and stroll in a Californian atmosphere

Lacanau Océan is also a very pleasant little town! Many shops, restaurants, boutiques, craftsmen, shops... All this in a Californian atmosphere for sure . We ride bikes, skateboards, a board in hand and a smile on our faces. In the evening we eat an ice cream or cream, we walk around in flip-flops and we put them in our backpack when we arrive on the beach ! The market is held in Lacanau Océan on Wednesday morning.

Don't forget to take advantage of the beautiful villas that are found everywhere, through the Circuit des Villas Canaulaises . 3 kilometers of walk to appreciate the beautiful architecture of the early ^20th century.
