The Saint-Louis-des-Chartrons Church, built between 1874 and 1880 by the architect Pierre-Charles Brun, is an emblem of the Chartrons district of Bordeaux.

This neo-Gothic building is distinguished by its imposing vertical façade, adorned with a rose window and flanked by two 58-meter high spires, inspired by the work of Viollet-le-Duc. Its interior, in the shape of a Latin cross, houses magnificent stained-glass windows created by Nicolas Lorin and Henri Feur, an 18th-century marble high altar from the former Carmelite convent and a sacristy decorated with period woodwork.

The church, listed as a Historic Monument, is a major architectural testimony to the development of Bordeaux at the end of the 19th century.

Beyond its architecture, the Saint-Louis-des-Chartrons Church is renowned for its exceptional symphonic organ, built in 1881 by Georges Wenner and restored in 2005 by Pascal Quoirin. It is the most important organ in the entire Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, also listed as a Historic Monument. This active place of worship, dependent on the archdiocese of Bordeaux, regularly hosts masses and occasional cultural events, including concerts that showcase its remarkable instrument. It is an essential landmark for lovers of sacred art and music.
