Le Garage Moderne Museums in Bordeaux

Founded in 2000 and located since 2003 in a large warehouse of over 2,000 m² in the Bacalan district, the Le Garage Moderne association was born from the desire to bring art and mechanics together in a spirit of solidarity and sharing. Today, with over 5,000 members and nearly 300 active volunteers, it provides everyone with the necessary resources to practice reuse, repair, and DIY.

A community-run garage, volunteer mechanics teach the basics to novices so they can maintain cars, bicycles, or motorcycles. A variety of workshops —3D printing, sewing, composting—are held alongside artistic and cultural events. A community canteen completes the offerings, and since 2020, the space has also provided emergency food aid for those most in need.
