Guîtres is a charming town in Gironde, located in the heart of Libournais. It is renowned for its historical heritage and its gentle way of life.

A bit of history

Guîtres owes its original name to its privileged geographical position at the confluence of the Isle, the Lary and the Galostre.

The town developed around a Benedictine abbey, whose Notre-Dame abbey is today a major historical monument not to be missed during a stay in Gironde.

The latter welcomed many personalities, including Henri IV, Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
