We had reserved bikes for the weekend at the Andernos store, via the website with payment upon reservation. On the day of the bike pickup, the store was closed and deserted, despite the hours posted online and the storefront indicating the store was open. We called headquarters to find a solution. We were redirected several times to different stores in the group in a clever game of telephone ping-pong, before receiving a delivery offer to Andernos. An hour passed between our arrival at the store and the delivery of the bikes. The bikes' tires were underinflated, and the gear lever on one bike wasn't tightened to the handlebars, so it was moving around. We were told by phone that "normally" there would be people at the store the next day to receive the bikes. The next day, still during the stated opening hours, no one was there to receive the bikes. We called the Ares store that had delivered the bikes back to inform them and discuss where to leave them. Our request for a goodwill gesture was categorically dismissed with a "it's not within our power." There was no way of knowing who had that power, and we had no intention of wasting any more of our energy on this company. If, however, you still wish to rent their bikes, I encourage you to pay when you pick them up, provided they are in good condition.

I do not recommend renting from Beach Bikes. We booked 4 bikes through the website, paying in advance. When we arrived on the day, there was no one at reception to pick up the bikes. We struggled for about 40 minutes to get ahold of someone on the phone. In the end, the bikes were delivered to us without a word of apology. Only to realize after a few kilometers that the tires were underinflated and that a gear lever was loose. No goodwill was offered, and no one to greet us when we returned the bikes, even though we were assured the day before that someone would be there. A bad joke! PS: You should review the communication on the website, which is confusing, and update your store opening hours.

So... What can I say, what can I say... Disappointed already, very disappointed. And I'm not talking about the staff, who simply weren't there when we arrived at the Andernos campsite (no update on opening hours, nothing to explain why the place is closed, great guys, really! To take our reservation, you're quick, having a manager who had to deliver after almost 40 minutes of non-stop calling to get someone.... in short... It's your job, right?) I'll qualify that though, the manager at Arès was quick and efficient, but: 1/ under-inflated tires on arrival (for the circuit to Cap Ferret, you pay for your 2 hours with a flat tire....) 2/ speed which, on one of the bikes, barely holds, forcing one of our friends to hold on by squeezing the plastic like a clamp, explaining her wrist in the process, yes, another one Good point. 3/ 45-degree grips for a recreational bike? Wrist issues ruined after less than 2 hours (if you have grip pain, run away, theirs are ridiculously poorly designed!) 4/ Regarding the return of the bikes, no one... While we're assured that they are, what a joke. 5/ We're not stopping there, the brake is poorly positioned, not tight, but seriously, it's your JOB to maintain the bikes at least minimally to avoid spending our days struggling like idiots on brakes that are as tight as a porn actress at the end of her career. I'm not waiting for answers, but there was an employee who took care of us in Arès and who was TOP 👍 Thanks to her. And strength.
