The Arcachon Basin Zoo: an immersion into the heart of biodiversity

With over 1,000 animals, spread over 22 hectares of forest and over 4 km of visitor trails, the Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon is one of the largest animal parks in France.

The park is home to more than 200 rare and iconic species, in a natural and shaded environment conducive to discovery and relaxation.

Easily accessible, it is located just 5 minutes from the Dune du Pilat and 45 minutes from Bordeaux, and offers many services for the comfort of visitors: catering, picnic areas and free parking.

Throughout the season, the zoo offers daily educational activities, including narrated feedings led by our educational staff. These special moments allow the whole family to learn more about the animals, their behavior, and their way of life.

The park also offers immersive educational activities, such as Keeper for a Day or Keeper for an Evening, as well as Privilege Encounters, accessible by reservation, offering visitors an exclusive and supervised experience up close to certain species, for a unique moment of discovery and exchange.

The Arcachon Basin Zoo is fully committed to biodiversity conservation. It participates in several ex-situ breeding programs, thus contributing to the preservation of endangered species.

The park also supports wildlife conservation through its Bassin d'Arcachon Conservation association, which donates funds to various local organizations. Every summer, conservation days are organized to raise public awareness of environmental issues and the essential role of zoos in species protection.
