The Prés Salés du Bassin d'Arcachon are the largest salt marshes in Aquitaine. Les Prés Salés d'Arès-Lège is located at the entrance to Cap-Ferret, between Lège-Cap-Ferret and Arès. To protect this original ecosystem, the Pres Salés National Nature Reserve has settled there. It has created a coastal path that joins the two neighboring towns and allows you to explore the reserve, while preserving the flora and without disturbing the birds that live there. Depending on the period, you will observe specific mudflat birds and migratory birds. You will also come across aquatic animals: the European Pond Turtle, the Eel and the European Otter. We advise you to be accompanied by a nature guide, so as not to miss anything of this unusual natural space.
The Prés Salés Est de la Teste-de-Buch are located opposite the Arcachon Basin. They are nestled between the seaside resort of Arcachon and the oyster port of Rocher. Long abandoned, this area is being rehabilitated. A hiking trail follows the dike and allows you to cross this site, which in fact combines local varieties and some more exotic and invasive, making up a motley and interesting vegetation. You will also see a beautiful viewpoint over the Leyre Delta and the surrounding lagoons.
