    • Third Grand Cru Classé 1855 of Margaux , Château Desmirail benefits from an exceptional location in the heart of the commune of Margaux-Cantenac, on the edge of the famous “route des Châteaux”.

Denis Lurton, today at the head of the property, extends the rich heritage of his father Lucien Lurton, while bringing all his care to the development of this Grand Cru.

The property 's vines extend over around forty hectares, spread over three terroirs, each of which brings its own character to the Château 's wines : Margaux-Cantenac, Soussans and Arsac.

Château Desmirail is a grape variety suitable for the Médoc terroir : 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, synonymous with structure and longevity, 40% Merlot , which brings its velvety feel, and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot which complete the palette of grape varieties.

Since the 2018 vintage, the vineyard has been cultivated with respect for the environment according to the principles of sustainable agriculture. The teams work continuously on reflection and adaptation of the methods used to address ecological issues.

For several decades, the estate has banned all chemical and insecticide weeding, the soil is worked with a plow and the harvest is carried out manually, plot by plot for better respect for the environment.

Château Desmirail also produces elegant and modern wines that reflect the Margaux style, wines that can be appreciated both young, on the fruit , and after years of aging in their complexity. The wines of Château Desmirail are the result of strict selection and highly privileged breeding : vinification is carried out with modern tools , in wooden and stainless steel vats . The choice of traditional vinification is expressed by a gentle and measured extraction , adapted according to the grape varieties.

Since 2010, Denis Lurton has opened the pink marble portal to visitors to discover the wine of Château Desmirail and its architectural heritage, composed of the elegant Chartreuse du renovated 18th century, or the Médoc vat room from the 19th century.

The property now offers various reception programs and thematic visits.

Since 2019, it has also been possible to enjoy horse - drawn carriage rides pulled by Iris, the estate's favorite mare.

The Château is the Best of Wine Tourism 2024 winner in the “Architecture and landscapes” category.

Open 7 days a week from May to October

Just picked this place on a whim. and just goes to show you that sometimes the best choices are not planned. Fun winery where the hosts were very unpretentious and really about getting you to try some good wine and see what they have to offer. the Chateau is large and several warehouses we passed though and got a good lay of the land. A solid destination for any wine lover
