Miroir d'eau Tourist Sites in Bordeaux

The Bordeaux Water Mirror, inaugurated in 2006, has quickly become one of the city's most photographed emblems and an unmissable attraction.

Located opposite the Place de la Bourse and the banks of the Garonne, this immense granite slab of 3,450 m² is the largest of its kind in the world. Designed by landscape architect Michel Corajoud, it alternates striking mirror effects, where the thin layer of water perfectly reflects the classical 18th-century facades of the Place de la Bourse, and mysterious fog sequences, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. This spectacle, which takes place in cycles, is a true aquatic ballet that fascinates young and old alike.

Much more than just a fountain, the Water Mirror is a space for living and refreshing, particularly appreciated on hot summer days. Children have fun running around barefoot while adults enjoy the cool, soothing atmosphere. Its ingenious system, which draws from an 800 m³ underground reservoir and recycles the water, also makes it a technical and ecological feat.

The Water Mirror generally operates from April to October and has largely contributed to the revival of the Bordeaux quays.
