    • Located on the Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux, the National Customs Museum has been, since its opening in 1984, an essential step in exploring the history of customs in France.

Its permanent collection and temporary exhibitions offer a deeper understanding of the customs service's missions, its influence on the economy and society, and the diversity of its historical and cultural dimensions. With over 13,000 items in its collection, of which approximately 600 are on display, the museum provides a rich and captivating glimpse into the work of customs officers throughout the centuries.

Completely renovated in 2025, the museum has a fully redesigned modular route, and also presents a rich cultural program adapted to all audiences.

Enjoying an exceptional setting in the heart of the city, this historic and prestigious venue offers companies and institutions a tailor-made privatization offer, ideal for hosting various events such as seminars, guided tours, cocktails, conferences or dinners.

Customs at the borders of the open sea: New temporary exhibition

The National Customs Museum presents, from April 2nd to November 22nd, 2026, a temporary exhibition dedicated to the National Customs Coast Guard Directorate (DNGCD). This exhibition highlights the fundamental role of this institution in maritime surveillance and territorial protection.

Through a selection of historical objects, uniforms, ship models, as well as sound installations and testimonies, the exhibition traces the evolution of customs missions at sea, from the 18th century to the present day. It also highlights current challenges related to maritime trade, security, search and rescue at sea, and environmental protection.

This exhibition aims to promote maritime customs heritage while introducing the public to an often overlooked aspect of customs missions.

An original museum, interesting especially for its history of the institution, with some photos, paintings, and original objects.
