On the banks of the Garonne, 40 minutes from Bordeaux.
Cadet of Gascony with a meteoric rise, precursor of the musketeers, the ducal of Épernon had this castle built during the reigns of Henri IV and Louis XIII. Sumptuous and military, its palace worthy of kings retains monumental fireplaces, tapestries, painted ceilings... but became a prison for women in the 19th century. An extraordinary destiny.
