  • English
    • Bordeaux Saint-Jean Station is Bordeaux's main railway station and a major transport hub in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Its history dates back to 1855 with the "Gare du Midi," initially temporary, which gradually grew to become the city's only passenger station after the closure of La Bastide station in 1934.

Its current architecture, remarkable for its imposing façade and its vast metal hall, bears witness to the railway classicism of the end of the 19th century. The work of the engineer Louis Choron and the architect Marius Toudoire, it is listed as a Historic Monument.

Beyond its historical and architectural significance, Gare Saint-Jean is at the heart of Bordeaux's appeal. With the arrival of the LGV in 2017, it has become a crucial gateway for travelers, serving many national and regional destinations.
