    • The history of the museum:

The Bordeaux Historia Vini association was created in November 2007 with the aim of promoting the heritage and the very special past of the Chartrons district by working on the project of a museum dedicated to wine and its trade. Combining tradition and future, the museum aims to be a place of meeting and conviviality around wine news thanks to its strong links with Bordeaux winegrowers.

“Passionate about my city and its wines, I wanted to tell the story of a trade that has shaped Bordeaux for centuries and to combine a mythical place with a moment of relaxation and cultural enrichment. »

Grégory Pecastaing, Founding President of the Museum.

      The place :

Les Chartrons, emblematic district of Port de la Lune, now houses the Wine and Trading Museum. In the building of the royal broker of Louis XV, discover three centuries of history and fame of the great wines of Bordeaux. The imposing facade, the vaulted cellars and the cooperage retrace the daily life of the stockbreeding merchants of the 19th century.

The museum shop occupies the old cooperage and the permanent collection now replaces the barrels in the semi-underground cellars. This collection, made up of documents, rare bottles, films and winemaking equipment, brings several centuries of history to life.

This authentic museum is found off the beaten track. I enjoyed the beautiful details you can find about wine making within cellars. Staff is helpful. €10 per adult which includes wine tasting of two wines. Highly recommended for any wine lovers

Wonderful small wine museum that gives you the history of Bordeaux and the wine industry that flourished there. It’s quite a small place but the price properly reflected that and was a good place to go! Properly enjoyed myself and learned a lot; the final wine tasting was a nice touch and helped to further learn about the difference between the regions

You'll find this little gem on your wine tour of Bordeaux, hidden along the cobbled roads. This museum will take you back to the history of wine, with some amazing books that record the wine makers and sales, to machinery and old bottles going back years. Just being in the old cellar and seeing the wines and wooden casks takes you back to one amazing industry from the start.
