  A one-hour visit in three stages: screening of the film "The Life of the Oyster" (we discover the daily life of our oyster farmers), guided tour in the different scenographic spaces (reproduction, farming techniques, species, etc...), without forgetting the free discovery of the outdoor course with traditional boats, the oyster farming equipment of yesteryear, the whitewashed tiles, all harmoniously staged in the heart of the vegetation specific to the Arcachon Basin.

Was not sure about a museum dedicated to the oyster industry - but was really pleasantly surprised and learned a lot during out visit. On arrival we were directed to watch a short, very informative and nicely produced film on the three year life cycle of the oysters from the Bay of Arcachon (this is shown in various languages including English and lasted about 20 minutes.). We even recognised the owner of one of the oyster shacks we had eaten in. We were then given a short tour with an English speaking guide who explained the growth of the oysters and answered any questions. You are then free to explore the rest of this small museum including a small outside area.

this museum shows you everything you ever wanted to know about oysters and how they are farmed grown as well as historical collection records dating back to the Roman times. The museum has indoor and outdoor exhibits good for you miss you in the world of oyster collection. The museum offers a video in English French German and other languages. if you are coming de toi streams than you should stop here so you can understand where the delicious treats come from. The admission price is very reasonable and they do offer student discounts.

Lots of good terrine choices in the souvenir shop. Last admission at 1hr before closing time. The restaurants and oyster bar nearby are very nice but there are quite a lot of mosquito at the bars so better bring your repellent.
