The island of Malprat is part of the Bassin d'Arcachon, not far from Biganos. This island was formed in the Leyre Delta . It adjoins the Plaine du Teich and the ornithological reserve . It is made up, on the land side, by marshy meadows of fresh water, and on the sea side, by old seawater fish ponds. The whole offers you an unusual ride. The site being protected, the visit is only possible accompanied by a guide, on reservation at the tourist office. He will be able to show you the rare species that live there: otter and European mink, pond turtle and many birds.
