Saint Emilion

This Libournais village benefits from a green setting, in the heart of its exceptional wine-growing region, the famous Saint-Émilion wine. But it's not just its wine that is remarkable, its historical monuments are also. Its monolithic church is particularly unusual. Carved into the rock, it is much bigger than it looks. You can visit its underground passages which will lead you to the Chapel of the Trinity, the catacombs and the hermitage of Émilion. A bike ride through the vineyards is a must. If you want to do a family activity, we recommend the Jardin de Lamproie , just 12 minutes from the village.

Saint Macaire

In Entre-deux-Mers, Saint-Macaire is an old medieval town. But the origins of the city are much older and date back to Gallo-Roman times. The tourist office organizes guided tours to tell you about this distant past. The village benefits from a very pleasant environment on the banks of the Garonne. You will make beautiful hikes along the water's edge. It is also bustling and lively, with friendly shops, bars and restaurants.

RIONS

About thirty kilometers from Bordeaux, Rions is a village with a turbulent past. On the banks of the Garonne, the territory of the commune is part of the Entre-deux-Mers wine region. To discover it, take the hiking route, the “Rions Loop”. The children will surely appreciate the "Robin treasure hunt", provided by the tourist office, to enhance a nice family outing. Rions has a remarkable historical heritage, in particular the old Citadel and the Tower of Lhyan, which ensured the defense of the town, or the Cave of Charles VII.

Soulac sur Mer

In the Haut-Médoc, Soulac-sur-Mer is a quiet and family seaside resort. Its central beach is very pleasant for swimming and popular with families. There are also sports activities such as tennis, volleyball or surfing. Located at the end of the mouth of the Gironde, it is an ideal site to observe the confrontation between the river and the ocean, during your walks. You will also see the pretty Soulac villas, typical of Gironde seaside resorts and historic monuments, such as the Notre-Dame Basilica. To enrich your culture, don't miss the city's Museum of Art and Archeology.

Bazas

Bazas is especially renowned for its cattle breeding and its exceptional meat. It is a Mecca for Gironde gastronomy. The commune of Bazas is located in Sauternes, a region known for its wine-growing activities, occupying 2000 hectares in the surroundings. Its heritage is also very interesting. The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is absolutely beautiful. Its Halle of 1890 is well worth a detour. Beforehand, start with a visit to the municipal museum to learn about the history of the village and the surrounding area, through models, paintings and period objects.

Cadillac

Cadillac is a Bastide in Entre-deux-Mers, dating from 1280. It has managed to preserve its heritage over the centuries, which makes it a favorite village for lovers of old stones. You will visit its 12th century ducal castle, its 18th century Charterhouse , which today houses the Maison des Vins, and its central square, with the Halle, built in the 19th century. Cadillac is also known for its local farmers' market, which has been held there every Saturday for over 800 years now.

Sainte-Croix-du-Mont

In the South-Gironde, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont has an astonishing geological curiosity. Indeed, it is in its basement that resides its main point of interest. The village is perched on a rocky cliff, made up of fossilized oyster shells. Over time, caves have formed there. They are ideal for storing Sauternes wine produced nearby. You will be able to admire the work of nature there, while tasting this tasty white wine. Nearby, the Château de Tastes is a beautiful building renovated in the 19th century, on an old medieval site. It is also from Sainte-Croix-du-Mont that you can make a hiking loop, of about 10 kilometers, to observe the local flora and fauna.
