    • Luxury guest rooms, warm and friendly, near Sainte-Foy-la-Grande

Welcome to Wayne and David's home , The Old Presbytery , a superb estate,  in Saint-André-et-Appelles , near Sainte-Foy-la-Grande , at the crossroads between the Dordogne , the Gironde and the Lot-et-Garonne . It is a charming guest house , all in stone that dates from the 18th century .  Perfect for a couple , who are looking for a luxury escape , or timeout to recharge your batteries and enjoy the place as much as the pleasure of being together. Wayne and David welcome you as guests, but above all as friends .

A quiet stay or weekend, in an exceptional environment

The grounds of The Old Presbytery are a place of peace and relaxation . Chillout in the shade of their 300 year old cedar trees, or swim in the  heated swimming pool , surrounded by a stone terrace where you can sunbath  on a beautiful sunny afternoon on comfy loungers.  Wayne and David are from London, and in 2021 they decided to settle in France, in Gironde, in this region which they appreciate and know well. They are located in the countryside, surrounded by orchards and vineyards, but close to interesting places to visit.  It's the perfect location for exploring the region and most of all enjoying life in the French countryside where they have created their Guest House, which is also their home.

This change of life is an opportunity for them to put their hospitality into practice, because they enjoy meeting new people and sharing good times around a delicious meal.

Guest rooms and a charming apartment, completely renovated and friendly

You can stay in one of the 5 guest rooms , which are all equipped with a "super king size" bed and luxurious bed linen, for maximum comfort and space. The rooms are large and bright , they all have a large double French doors that opens to the outside so you can enjoy the best of indoor and outdoor living.  Each room has of course its own bathroom (with a complimentary amenities and towels ), and a private terrace to relax reading a book, having a drink or just admiring the view. There is excellent Wifi available for free in all the rooms,  throughout the house and around the pool.

The Old Presbytery is a very environmentally friendly establishment, with each element taken into account to limit the impact of hotel and tourist activity on the environment. To help avoid single-use plastic, each guest is given an Old Presbytery water bottle that you can use to top up with free filtered still and sparkling tap water. And if you like the bottle, you can take it with you!  Solar panels have recently been installed on the roofs of their home, so from this summer all their electricity will be produced from solar energy. You will no doubt, appreciate the efforts that Wayne and David have gone too, to make your holiday as sustainable as possible.

Every morning, a delicious breakfast will be offered to you, with an assortment of homemade and artisanal delicacies . Good bread (with a gluten-free choice), pastries, fruit, homemade granola by Wayne, boiled eggs along with Fairtrade teas and coffee.  It's a great way to start the day !

The Old Presbytery also offers a self-contained apartment for rent. It is the same high quality as the guest rooms and has a kitchen and living room, ideal for guests who want their own independence. It is possible (with a supplement) to have breakfast every morning with the other guests if you would like.

Your well-being is in good hands, come and enjoy the heated swimming pool, open every day until 10 p.m., it has a counter-current swimming machine so you can do a few breaststrokes to keep fit. Prefer to relax? Laze on the comfy sunbeds, lie on the grass or take a walk around the estate.

If you prefer to workout, a heated fitness studio is at your disposal, it is bright and offers a relaxing view of an orchard. You can practice yoga or exercise on the padded sprung floor or enjoy a session in the infrared sauna for perfect muscle relaxation.

Wayne and David offer you the use of four electric bikes . They are perfect for discovering the region without getting tired, bringing back small souvenirs or tasty treats.  The house is equipped with fast charging sockets (powered by solar of course) for electric vehiclesso you can recharge your car during your stay free of charge.

Wayne and David will be happy to give you advice for walking, running,  kayaking and discovering the surrounding villages and castles and vineyards. The region is rich in history with lots of local activities and delicacies to discover: for local food products you must go to the superb Sainte-Foy-la-Grande market on Saturday morning to convince yourself of this !

Are you tired after all these adventures? A comfortable games room with a billiard table,  television and even a karaoke machine is available for you to enjoy, although they don't supply earplugs !

      Delicious meals on site

David gets into the kitchen and offers you a menu full of surprises made with quality local ingredients. He uses seasonal herbs and vegetables from the garden, that will delight his guests. It is necessary to book in advance because all the dishes are homemade and made to order.

On Sunday and Monday evenings they offer a communal dinner, with homemade pizza on Sunday night and Meatfree Monday the next night.  Dinner is served on a large communal table of 14 people on their outdoor terrace so you can enjoy the magnificent view ! It is a very pleasant experience where you can enjoy the conviviality of the other guests and your hosts.  A selection of wine is available to buy, straight from their personal cellar (the BatCave), with any meal order. During the rest of the week, a small range of homemade dishes are available that are cooked with love, with or without meat, made up of fresh and seasonal products.

The Old Presbytery is open from 27th April to the end of October. The establishment is reserved for people over 18 years old. You can bring your pet , David and Wayne have two friendly and playful dogs of their own. Enjoy your holidays !

Our stay at the old presbytery was faultless. Wayne and David have thought of everything and made our stay truly wonderful. The rooms were spacious, bed super comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. David cooked us the most delicious dinner on the first night. There was also e-bikes to use and we had a great time riding around the different towns and through vineyards. The pool area is picturesque by the plum orchard and we had beautiful weather to lie by the pool. The breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. We definitely want to come back and stay again!

What an amazing place to stay, from its beautiful location over looking fields of grapes and plums, to two amazing host with lots of wonderful insights of things to do around the area to amazing service! Dinners and wines were so romantic and peaceful that we felt like we never wanted to leave! LOVED IT! Highly recommended! Plus part is also the chef and that it’s pet-friendly. Their two dogs played with our dog, they also had a good time! We will come again soon! Thank you David and Wayne!
