    • The center of the small village of Hourtin is not located at the beach, but about ten kilometers away. In summer, go to Hourtin beach, which is bustling with surf schools and a few food outlets, you come here only for the ocean, as there is nothing else nearby. The beach is accessible by a staircase, it is large, sunny and pleasant. You can surf there, you can swim in a supervised area at the beginning of the beach, but then you can walk for miles on the beach, quietly and without anyone around. But be careful, to swim, really stay in the marked places because the currents are strong, which is why the beach is famous for surfing. It is also called the ocean beach by comparison to the beaches of Lake Hourtin a little further.
