The Hourtin Dunes and Marshes National Nature Reserve covers a vast area from the central beach of Hourtin to the shores of Lac de Carcans-Hourtin. It brings together different environments: beach and dune ridge, state forest, lake and bodies of water. By visiting the reserve, you will pass the Landes sand dunes, with low vegetation, the majestic maritime pine forest, then in the marshy meadows, on the edge of the lake. You will come across a fauna specific to each of these environments and you will contemplate an exceptional flora and beautiful specimens of trees, in particular old oaks. You can simply go for walks and hikes, or book a guided tour with the tourist office.
