  The Castera house
  Are you looking for a room with table d'hôtes near Saint-Émilion? Located 8 km from Saint-Emilion, the 19th century building was built at a place called Castéra, on the banks of the Dordogne, in Saint-Jean de Blaignac in Gironde. Nicknamed the small castle, the mansion (1868) is in the center of an older body of outbuildings and agricultural workshops. The North barn preceded the workshop of the vine nursery. To the south, a large dovecote housed the kitchens and the pig sties. An old outdoor bread oven also bears witness to this flourishing past.

A highlight of our 3 week tour of France. Malis Castera did not disappoint. Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful well appointed rooms, the hosts should be proud of the renovations they have done to this century old building. Delicious breakfasts and very welcoming hosts. We had dinner one evening and that was absolutely delicious. Perfectly located an easy drive to the surrounding tourist locations. Highly recommended.

Very beautiful bed and breakfast, what a delightful location! The room is very comfortable and perfectly clean, although we were unlucky enough to visit during a heatwave and there was no ventilation in the room so we were very hot. We would have left the windows open but with smoking underneath our bedroom that was not an option :( Dinner was delicious but we were a little disappointed with breakfast, we would have loved an egg or something not sweet but that's subjective! The homemade crepe and cake were very good. They are a dog friendly location. Other guests brought their dog to dinner....be aware if you're not a fan of eating around dogs, or not comfortable around dogs. We would be very happy to return but perhaps in winter when we can be nice and toasty in the room! Very kind host, it was a pleasure to talk with him.

Joined for the dinner table. It was an amazing home dining experience. Local ingredients and love, cooked perfectly with the neighbors wine. They gave us a tour of the rooms which were stunning, we will 100% be visiting again. Wish I took photos, but I was too busy loving everything.
