    • At the gates of Bordeaux, between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, the Entre-deux-Mers region immediately captivates you with the serene beauty of its landscapes. The relief envelops you in its folds. It contains a small galaxy of small towns, with its myriad wine-growing areas, castles, rural buildings, belvederes, and these jewels of medieval urban planning: the bastides, these checkerboard-patterned cities with arcades.

In season, the roads are brightened up with tasting cellars, open-air markets, village events and festivals.
It's an ocean of vines where the entire range of Bordeaux wines is represented. Here, the wines are simple and generous, and the winemakers welcome you with modesty and share with you the pleasure of the products produced by working their vineyards.
The Bordeaux hinterland holds many treasures to be discovered. Nestled in their green setting, a host of small Romanesque churches and illustrious abbeys await you. In the cities or in the heart of the vineyards, along the small roads you will discover fortified water or windmills, medieval, Renaissance, or classical castles...
Entre-deux-Mers has preserved the memory of its stones. Its monuments tell a story embellished by the centuries.

Away from the main traffic routes, the Bordeaux hinterland inspires wandering spirits. Country roads, cycle paths, botanical trails, and bush paths invite you to wander.

Both unique in its physiognomy and so diverse in its features, the face of the Entre-deux-Mers is drawn through its territories: Les Portes de Bordeaux, the countries of Créon, Cadillac, Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and Targon, La Réole, Monségur. Each of these communes and their surrounding countries has its own tone and contributes to the harmony of the whole.

Around Monségur... Country houses to experience

      Summer under the arcades

Farm produce, cheerful tables, and musicians: every Wednesday evening in the summer, a night market is held under the covered market hall of the Monségur fortified town. Oysters, grilled meats, and local duck breasts overflow from the trestles. The tables are set out, and the customers feast. Just like in the old days, we feast.

For morning excursions, head out into the light filtering through the foliage along the banks of the Dropt River, follow the towpath and explore the countryside dotted with dovecotes, covered wells, mills, and wash houses. And why not visit the beautiful Saint-Ferme Abbey, located on the Camino de Santiago?

I visited Monsegur this place this Saturday August 30, 2025 and I can say that it is beautiful. Our guide Dame Loise led us in the footsteps of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Charles 7. A storyteller, we believe this story, I immersed myself in it. Thank you madam

Monségur is a magnificent village that's a must-see. Its market hall, square, and rampart walkway make for unforgettable memories. Don't forget the must-see bar "Le Monsègue," the bakery "La Choco Latine," and the restaurant "Le Patio."

Fantastic bastide between the Dordogne and Garonne valleys, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, Monségur is the only high-altitude fortified town in Gironde. Founded in 1265 by Eleanor of Provence, it retains the layout of medieval new towns: a central square lined with covered arcades, a 19th-century glass and cast iron market hall that replaced the old stone market hall, and a Languedoc-style church. In the medieval streets, you'll discover half-timbered houses. The Flamboyant Gothic Governor's Tower is located a few meters from the central square. From the rampart walk, access leads to the towpath for a stroll along the Dropt River. The municipal archives contain the Esclapot, the book of the founding charter. Every summer, Monségur hosts the 24 Heures du Swing jazz festival.
