The Cloître des Cordeliers, dating back to the 14th century and listed as a Historic Monument, is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Since 1892, sparkling wines have been crafted here using the traditional method, within three kilometers of underground galleries.
Three emblematic cuvées are produced on-site:
- Vintage Blanc Brut – a blanc de blancs, 100% Sémillon, elegant and refined.
- Vintage Rosé Brut – a pure Merlot rosé, indulgent and fruity.
- Grand Vintage Blanc Brut – a blanc de noirs, 100% Cabernet Franc, characterful and generous.
These cuvées are available for complimentary tasting in the concept store, allowing visitors to compare their styles and aromas. The history of Crémant de Bordeaux and its production secrets are unveiled during guided tours:
- On foot: €16.50 per person
- By electric tuk-tuk: €30 per person
Both tours include a descent 20 meters underground into the troglodytic galleries, followed by a tasting of the three cuvées accompanied by a Saint-Émilion macaron (juice for children).
As an alternative to the guided tour, electric bike rentals allow visitors to explore the vineyard landscapes at their own pace, in an area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to tours, the Cloître des Cordeliers also offers a bar serving wines, cocktails, and spirits, along with picnic basket-style dining. From May to late August, festive summer evenings take place every Friday (jazz concert) and Saturday (DJ set), with free admission.Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume in moderation
