My partner had booked a stay at the Hôtel Le Palais Gallien for my birthday. Unfortunately, we decided to cut our stay short as the experience was so unpleasant and fell far short of our 5-star expectations. Despite being offered an upgrade, we chose to leave early. We will not be returning to this hotel.

A HUGE disappointment. Despite the friendly staff and comfortable bedding, we decided to cut our stay short as the experience fell far short of what we expected from a 5-star hotel. The room was outdated, the mirror was broken, the bathroom was separated only by a cheap plastic curtain, there was very little storage, the furniture was wobbly, there was no wardrobe except for a small closet, and no extra pillows or blankets. Quite shocking for this category. The soundproofing was disastrous: it was impossible to sleep between the music from reception playing continuously all night, the construction work outside, and the city cleaning crews passing by at 5 a.m. Breakfast in the room was equally disappointing: basic trays without legs that couldn't be placed anywhere but on the bed, making it very impractical for eating properly. There were multiple errors in the order, and the quality of the products was nowhere near what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel (mediocre bread with holes, impossible to spread, and fruit and pastries of dubious quality). A very disappointing experience overall. Despite the offer of an upgrade, we preferred to leave early without any compensation, which speaks volumes about our poor experience. We will not be returning to this establishment, nor to any other hotels in the group.
