In Landerrouat, in the Entre-deux-Mers region, an hour and a half from Bordeaux, Alain and Dolorès Bessette welcome you to Château de la Verrière, a family vineyard cultivated by the family since 1960. Having grown from 14 to 90 hectares of vines, they have made the estate one of the most comprehensive and committed producers in the Gironde – certified ISO 14001, HVE 3, CSR, and soon to be certified Organic Agriculture. This is an address to discover for lovers of ethical wines, wine tourists seeking an authentic estate, or groups curious for an immersive visit to one of the largest family vineyards in the Entre-deux-Mers.

A vineyard tour with tasting, from Monday to Friday

Château de la Verrière offers guided tours and tastings year-round, Monday through Friday. The tour and tasting package is €6 per person —allow approximately one hour to explore the cellars with Alain, Dolorès, or a member of the family in a friendly and informative atmosphere. To extend the tasting experience, the tour, tasting, and charcuterie board package, at €12 per person, combines the wine tasting with a selection of local products to share. Groups are welcome by appointment for an hour-long, engaging discussion about the estate and its philosophy. In October, visitors can even participate in the hand-harvesting over a few days, picking and sorting the grapes without any mechanical intervention—a unique experience that often becomes a cherished memory for visitors.

An organic, HVE 3 certified and CSR-certified vineyard in Entre-deux-Mers

Since 2011, the estate has been committed to a genuine environmental approach : yield reduction, sustainable farming practices, and reduced inputs have naturally led to organic farming, which will be officially certified next year. Château de la Verrière is also ISO 14001, HVE 3 (High Environmental Value), and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) certified —a rare level of commitment that encompasses the environment, human well-being, and biodiversity. Since 2017, beehives on the property have also produced forest honey, available alongside the estate's wines and stationery in the on-site shop. You can also find the wines of Alain and Dolorès, committed winemakers, directly at the estate or through their partner retailers.
