A shopping concept rooted in a rethought urban planning concept

Stroll along the quays of Bordeaux. Stroll along the 4.5 km promenade, from the Gare Saint-Jean to the Bassins à flot. These places were the subject of a huge construction site at the beginning of the 2000s. A colossal project to restore an entire abandoned sector of "La Belle Endormie" (that's how Bordeaux was called before the work). Indeed, at the time, one did not walk there without apprehension: ruined hangars, squatted people and a dilapidated atmosphere. It was not a popular place for tourists or locals. The municipal desire was to renovate this central axis of the city, by turning it back towards its river. Now, there is river tourism, nautical events and many walkers. The quays of Bordeaux are coming back to life!

The Quai des Marques, a place of many pleasures

A 20-minute walk from the city center (10 minutes by bike along the quays and 5 minutes by tram), the Quai des Marques, also called Bord'eau Village, has offered since 2007 a range of around thirty major brand stores, at reduced prices, all year round. These are indeed clearance stores ! We are far from the sheet metal sheds of industrial areas. These shops are chic, sumptuous and attractive thanks to their low prices. Count on 30% discounts all year round and up to -70% during sales periods.

So you can go shopping at Quai des Marques, but you can also eat properly. Whether for a coffee or a real meal (gastronomic, bistro or local specialties), the restaurant offering is complete and at all prices.

You can do some sport on your way to or from Quai des Marques. Grab your backpack and sneakers, hop on a Vcub bike, rent a scooter for the day, and enjoy the wide open space of the cycle path. Take a leisurely stroll, take a break on the benches or sit on the steps. Admire the Garonne and the magnificent Chaban-Delmas Bridge just a stone's throw away, the Cité du Vin or the Halles de Bacalan just a little further. Curious adults and children can round off the day with a visit to Cap Sciences, located in the adjacent hangars.

Meeting with a shopkeeper: L'Echoppe de la Lune

Anna is from Bordeaux. She grew up in this beautiful city, then left to move to Lille for a few years. Back in her native land, in her thirties and full of projects in mind, she rediscovered Bordeaux, with curiosity and interest. She was accompanied in her research by her uncle, who was passionate about history. It was then that the young girl, a foodie, had the original idea of combining her taste for good things with her love for her region ! L'Echoppe de la Lune was born from a pop-up store, in the heart of the Margaux vineyards in early 2017. The concept is simple and terribly attractive : it is a historic grocery store to take a culinary journey through a range of Made In Gironde specialties, from the 18th century to the present day. A journey through time and into this territory rich in history and gourmet heritage.

Since November 2017, L'Echoppe de la Lune has been permanently established at Quai des Marques. Visit this magnificent boutique, decorated in the city's signature navy blue. You will find old and quality products, products with a story, to be discovered on the small signs installed by Anna or thanks to her advice.

Practical information

• To get to Quai des Marques by tram, take line B, Médoc or Hangars station.
• A carpooling zone has been set up near Quai des Marques, in partnership with Blablacar.
• There is also an electric vehicle charging area nearby, as well as a BlueCar station (electric vehicle service book).
• If you want to reach the Quai des Marques by car, head towards Bassin à Flot from the Pont de Pierre. The area has a 621-space car park. Please note that the bridge is under construction at certain times of the year and will continue until 2027.
